Freedom of Information Act (FIOA) Requests
FOIA is the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. Under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140/1 et. seq.), records in possession of public agencies may be accessed by the public upon written request.

There are links to documents made available on the District website which you may download at this time are located under the Business and Operations page of the Bloom 206 website (no FOIA request required).


HOW CAN I SUBMIT A FOIA REQUEST?
Bloom 206 has no specific FOIA request form. Requests should state that information is being sought under the Freedom of Information Act. Provide a description of the public records requested, being as specific as possible. While responses may be provided via e-mail, you must provide a mailing address.

All requests for records should be in writing and addressed to FOIA Officer Kenneth Korbel. Individuals making a request are to identify when the request is for a commercial purpose or when requesting a fee waiver.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I SUBMIT A REQUEST?
The Illinois Freedom of Information Act requires agencies to respond within five working days of receipt of a request. A five-day extension is allowed with written notification to the requester.

If the requested records are 50 pages, or less, in length, the pages will be copied and provided to the requestor. If the records exceed 50 pages, the requester will be informed of the duplication cost.



WHAT ARE THE COSTS FOR DUPLICATION?

Fee schedule for duplication of public records
Paper copy - No charge (50 pages or less)
Paper copy - $.15 per page (51 pages or more)
Color copy - $.25 per page
Copy of audio or video material - Cost of media
Postage - Cost of mailing


Fees must be collected by the District before copies will be made or sent to the requestor.
