Mr. Benjamin C Helton
Dear Parents, My name is Benjamin Helton and I am the director of bands for the Bloom District. This is my first year in the district and I am beyond excited to be working with a superb group of kids. Being a native of the South Suburbs and having family roots in the Bloom District, it truly means a lot to me to be working with the area around my home. I am a graduate of the University of Illinois where I spent 4 years in the Marching Illini Sousaphone Section, 3 years in the Basketball Band, and performed with over 10 other ensembles on a variety of instruments in my tenure there. After college, I became the Director of Bands for a small Unit District out in Western Illinois. I taught grades 1-12 music and band for two years before moving back to my roots in the South Suburbs.
