Dr. Navarre honored with educator of the year award

Bloom High School Principal Dr. Lenell Navarre is the recipient of the 2009 Educator of the Year Award presented by the Northeastern Illinois University Phi Delta Kappa chapter. Dr. Navarre was honored at a recent Phi Delta Kappa annual awards dinner at the Double Tree Hotel in Alsip. Dr. Navarre was recognized for his contributions "above and beyond the call of duty to improve education and the way of life for students," according to a Phi Delta Kappa spokesman. Dr. Navarre has served as Bloom High principal for five years. He recently was appointed District 206 assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction, effective July 1.
